Janay Lewis discovered her passion for styling hair at the age of eight after her dreams of becoming a gymnast were crushed. Four years later she landed her first client. From that moment on, she knew that the beauty industry would be a long-term career path in which would allow her to use her creativity to open up many exciting opportunities in the future. After being in a long-term abusive relationship, she decided to go to beauty school to get her cosmetology license. This was the only way she could save the future for her and her son. After she graduated from cosmetology school, she decided to take a leap of faith and move to Houston,Texas to start her life over. Five hundred ninety eight dollars and Faith was all she had when she finally made it to her destination, but that didn't stop her. For the first year, she worked as a hairstylist at hair salon to learn the skills it would take to become a professional in the industry as well as learn how to properly run a business. After Hurricane Harvey hit, she decided that it was finally time to quit her job to focus on building her brand, Gemini Tresses, LLC., and has been working independently ever since. Her journey was not an easy one, but it was a risk worth taking. Her God-given talents landed her the opportunity to work as a celebrity hairstylist, and also for many top production companies such as ESPN Magazine, E! News, Beats By Dre & many others!
Janay continues to share her journey via her book with her clients and many people that come from all walks of life. She has no shame when it comes to encouraging others to chase their dreams, and most importantly, have "The Audacity To Continue", no matter how many obstacles may arise.
